Trans Sahara Rally. Man, that’s awesome. July 29, 2009

Trans Sahara Rally logoI think we’re going to take over the world. Join us.

We will always bring you to India with the Rickshaw Challenge and its events (and some new routes coming soon… stay tuned). We’ll take you through eerie, exotic Eastern Europe. We’ll even take you to on a journey to Chernobyl. But in March 2010, we’re going to take you through Africa to experience the wild and untamed! Oh yes, the Trans Sahara Rally is going to be awesome!

The Budapest team has been hard at work preparing this unprecedented event. Unlike most CEMS events, the Trans Sahara Rally is a “minimal assistance for maximum effect” kind of event. This is pure adventure. This is definitely off the beaten path. This is something you don’t want to miss.

As I make final preparations for the Mumbai Xpress (some participants have arrived in Chennai already. Welcome!), I find myself daydreaming about traveling across Africa. For me, going to India was one of those things I thought I’d do…someday. And then, someday came and here I am. It’s still very surreal sometimes and my family still thinks I’m nuts for driving rickshaws in this country. But anyway… Africa! How cool is that?! Talk about a get away. A real chance to escape. An opportunity to find yourself in the middle of nowhere (well, Africa, actually) and not feel afraid. And we really mean find yourself. Expand your horizons. Boldly go where no man… okay, you’re right. This isn’t space. It’s Africa. But still! It’s awesome.

So, I think you should check it out. Have a look. Take a peek. Talk to some friends about it. Brew up a plan. Drink down a brew. Trans Sahara Rally awaits you.

P.S. Maybe someday, CEMS will go to space, too.

The Winner Takes It All July 21, 2009

Hi! The reference to the hit ABBA song has little to do with the actual song- because I actually do want to talk, about things we’ll go through, that don’t hurt me, and will soon be history.

I’m talking about the grand prize for the Mumbai Xpress, which I think is totally kick ass. Because the CEMS Mumbai Xpress is…well…the only Mumbai Xpress in the world, the trophy is totally amazing. No one else on Earth, except for other Mumbai Xpress winners, obviously, has this trophy, which automatically puts the winner in among the most elite of human beings. But we don’t expect that you’ll put this trophy on your keychain to show off your eliteness. We promise bragging rights, which is why we give you the means to brag with a fantastic Mumbai Xpress Winner’s jacket. I want to keep it for myself, actually. Not going to lie. So, yeah, trophies and jackets, as cool as they may be, are nice, but if you don’t think that free entrance into the Caucasian Challenge is even nicer, get out of my house.

Caucasian Challenge

The Caucasian Challenge is coming up at the end of August. This is one of the longest routes offered by CEMS at a fantastically adventurous 7,000 kilometers (4,350 miles). Starting in Budapest, Hungary (which is beautiful and I really miss it ’cause I lived there once) and ending in Yerevan, Armenia, this massive drive-anything event takes you through Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, and Armenia. Eastern Europe as its finest…sorta. It’s exploration at its finest, trekking into areas not beaten down by the tourist stampede, looking out over scenes that have a sort of “Lord of the Rings”-esque beauty to them, tasting cuisines that are amazing (or disgusting, we’re not sure), and witnessing new cultures first hand. In a world of GPS coordinates and mapped trails, the Caucasian Challenge presents an opportunity for adventure unlike any other… and if you win the Mumbai Xpress, you get to go for free.

Losers can go, too. Wait, that didn’t sound very nice. Just because you don’t win the Mumbai Xpress doesn’t make you a loser. It makes you a non-winner. And non-winners can go on the Caucasian Challenge, too! Check out the event’s website for all the fantastic details.

So, play your cards, and I will too, ’cause there is nothing more to say, and I have no ace to play. The Winner Takes It All. -CKot

Greetings, Namaste, and Salutations to you all!

Me!

Me!

My name is Chelsea and I am the CEMS blog voice. I am the Manager of Communications with Chennai Event Management Services and I got this blog going to give CEMS a place where we could all get to know each other.  It’s sooo special! 🙂  I love my job at CEMS and I especially love the bit about being able to participate in the events, which reminds me…

Mumbai Express logoMumbai Xpress!  It’s going to be stellar!  A bunch of us are going to drive in autorickshaws for 13 days from Chennai to Mumbai… with a fantastic rest day in Goa (that’s the bit I’m personally looking forward to).  The crazy bunch will be arriving in the next couple weeks for the kick off of the event on July 31st.  It’ll be excellent.  Everybody will take fantastic Facebook and MySpace pictures and everybody else will be like, “Where was that? That looks fun! I wish I could’ve been there!” and everybody who went will be like, “Yeah, well, you should’ve come ’cause it was excellent!”  You can still sign up if you want in on this hot, delicious serving of Mumbai Xpress 2009!  We know that time is in a crunch, so if you can’t make it to the MX09, sign up for the MX10! Either way, excellence awaits you.

At CEMS, we’re busy getting all our final preparations for the MX09 ready to go (or we’re blogging about it).  What are you up to this summer? Introduce yourself- after all, it is the polite thing to do!  Until next time… CKot
